Selecting the best quality British and Cornish wool for her small-batch luxury handwoven accessories, Weaver Rae weaves the spirit of place into palette and pattern, inspired by the tide, tor and folklore of her motherland.
Rae is a handweaver of Blanket Scarves, Shawls, Scarves, Cowls, Wristwarmers and now Hot Water Bottles with traditional techiques and time-honoured practices at heart. Her eight-shaft Dobby loom is designed and built for her by her partner. She chooses wool as a native, abundant resource and occasionally features her own plant-dyed colour in her work, whilst rejoicing in undyed natural tones.
She is self-taught in her practice as a weaver. Always having been captivated by heritage crafts and living close to the UK's wild edges where the taste of seasalt and glint of quartz is never faraway, she likes to think a little of this magic travels with each piece she creates. Crafted to be revelled in and enjoyed from generation to generation.
