Mat is a craftsperson who specialises in making unique and functional hand-crafted wooden objects. He sources freshly felled logs from local tree surgeons who manage the street trees of London and hopes to give the trees a second life. Mat uses a mixture of traditional and contemporary techniques in his work. Because the timber he works with still has plenty of moisture in it, each piece that Mat makes shifts and warps as it dries, developing its own unique character.
