British Japanese artist making bold and colourful interpretations of everyday life in monotype and linocut prints. I am fascinated by shape and texture and work from my studio at Hestercombe House in Taunton. All my prints are made by hand, with the help of my cast iron Victorian Albion printing press.

Lisa Takahashi has made linocuts for over ten years, using the process to create bold, dynamic images. Her cycling prints use overlapping shapes to evoke speed and excitement and have appeared several times at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition. Recently, Lisa has turned to monoprint and monotype techniques, enjoying a more intuitive approach to printmaking. Her love of paper stencils has allowed her to continue to work with the clean-cut shapes that inspire her, in a way that enables the image to evolve throughout its making. Alongside her practice, she teaches printmaking workshops across the country.
