I am a Wiltshire based jeweller, in business for over 20 years. I create playful jewellery which has a soft industrial aesthetic, peppered with a hint of modern nostalgia.
My love of colour and print have continually remained at the forefront of my work, evoking a mood, feeling or emotion and bringing joy to those who wear my jewellery.
‘Absorbing a visual library from the world around me I translate my ideas into wearable pieces of jewellery as well as objects. The current theme with botanical influences stemmed initially from a bundle of gardening diaries found in my current house, left by a long-gone previous resident. In my mind I have built up a picture of his garden from a bygone era and parts of that picture are slowly emerging as pieces of jewellery.’
Working predominantly with anodised aluminium sheet, I use the metal as a canvas for vibrant screen prints, before combining them with silver and the occasional stone to form wearable compositions. Focusing on low-tech processes and traditional metalwork techniques my passion for making comes alive in the one-off pieces I make.
My work has long been represented by galleries throughout the UK as well as exhibiting during events such as the Craft Councils Chelsea Crafts Fair and Origin. In 2023 I made my debut at Goldsmiths' Fair in London and MAD about Jewelry in New Yorks Museum of Arts and Design.
A number of pieces feature in books and journals and my own book ‘Coloured Aluminium Jewellery: design & make’, was published by A&C Black in 2010.
I have enjoyed teaching alongside my jewellery practice since 2004 regularly teaching specialist workshops in my studio and at West Dean College.
