I have worked in clay off and on for many years - finally setting up my permanent studio in 2019. All my work is functional and although I still enjoy the freedom of handbuilding, I work mostly on the wheel - in porcelain and stoneware - and develop and make my own slips and glazes.
I’ve loved the coastline of the North East of England since a child, and it still inspires me – as does my interest in Japanese crafts. I use the Japanese/Korean techniques of ‘hakeme’ and 'mishima' inlay to add movement to my work and to lend textural interest.
My work is available through my website, various shows around the country and from the Ashmolean Museum shop in Oxford.
