Glass designer-maker specialising in casting and kiln formed contemporary glass. I use textures and surfaces cast directly from nature to create functional and decorative forms. My work is inspired by the environment around me and the traces we leave behind. Glass is the perfect material to reflect the ethereal nature of my designs.
I began my glass journey after careers as an archaeologist and then an environmental landscape planner. I was able to return to university and study glass at BA then MA level. During this time I was able to develop many skills in glass making, but decided that casting was for me.
I use multiple moulding and casting processes, using the natural environment to develop fine textured details within thick slabs of glass. The glass is then cold worked and polished to a high finish. Work is decorative and functional.
My work is informed and inspired by nature, beach combing and found objects and the traces we leave. (I have a license to mudlark on the Thames).
