Hannah has been working as a silversmith and jeweller since 2010. In 2011 she participated in the Crafts Council's Hothouse maker development programme and was awarded a place to exhibit at Goldsmiths' Fair.
Now based in the South West Hannah works from her studio in Yatton, North Somerset, a small village closely located to Bristol. Hannah exhibits her work at galleries and craft fairs throughout the UK.
Hannah studied at Sheffield Hallam University where she learnt traditional silversmithing techniques. Working with mallets and hammers flat silver sheet is shaped into a three dimensional form using hollowing, hand raising, planishing and chasing. The silver is transformed into sculptural vessels and functional silverware. Hannah's range includes vases, bowls, cups, candle holders, spoons and napkin rings. Informed by nature the designs are developed through the making process working intuitively with the materials and tools. Each piece is organic and fluid in design with a tactile quality. Hannah works with the same hammering techniques to make statement jewellery pieces. Bold cuffs and bangles are shaped over stakes and punches; the textured hammer face adds fine details to the pieces. Hannah enjoys playing with scale making both large sculptural work and fine jewellery. Working with the textured hammers Hannah creates fine jewellery in silver and gold formed from multiple wire links. The necklaces and earrings are made in a variety of sizes and link combinations. New collections combine hand carving both in wax that will be cast and direct carving into metal. A range of tools are used to create different textures including files and fine saw blades. Diamonds, sapphires and other stones are used to detail the rings, pendants and studs.
