I am a textile designer and I screen print my own fabric making it into table runners, napkins, lampshades and other household textiles. I also design and print my ceramic transfers that I fire onto mugs and ceramic pictures.
I’m a textile designer. I design surface patterns which I screen print by hand onto natural fabrics and ceramics.
I’ve always been inspired by the shapes and colours found in nature, taking the details found in natural forms into my work. Living in Devon give me access to such varied landscapes and coastlines where I can spend hours picking up shells, stones, driftwood and flowers, accompanied by me collie, Moxey. These objects are often just a catalyst for my designs and the finished work may have minimal resemblance to the original piece.
My work is quite eclectic and I wouldn’t say I had one style, some of my designs are very linear with highly detailed fine lines and other designs are made using stencils, creating bold shapes and multiple layers. I draw the repeating design by hand. I mix the colours by hand using dyes and I print my fabrics in short runs.
My training took place in Nottingham and once I finished Uni I continued in Higher education as a technician/teacher up until a few years ago. I also work with private clients creating site specific art pieces from wall hangings to blinds and curtains.
