
Emily Barnett is an artist, designer and tutor specialising in Hand Embroidery. Emily has recently completed an internship at the Royal School of Needlework’s Embroidery Studio. She has embroidered for Alexander McQueen, Sanderson and Fromental, as well as working on private commissions and running embroidery workshops. She graduated from The Royal School of Needlework with a First Class BA(Hons) Degree in Hand Embroidery. During her time studying at the Royal School of Needlework Emily was honoured to contribute to the embroidery of the Anointing Screen for King Charles III’s Coronation.
Craftsmanship is at the heart of her practice; within her work she combines precision and skill with a passion for the historical decorative arts and the built environment. Emily’s work often draws inspiration from nature, colour, historical textiles and botanical illustrations influenced by her childhood in rural Hampshire.
