Made by Hand.

Making and buying responsibly is an important consideration for Perren Studios. As much as is reasonable, I endeavour to make products that are mindful of our environment. This approach can be considered in the fabrics I source and their ability to last. I enjoy using natural dyes but also the colours I am able to get from other types of dye. When not using natural dyes, I will often hand paint fabrics so I can have zero waste.

Printing digitally, you are able to vastly reduce water waste so I create drawings by hand and digitise them so I can achieve different visual qualities to hand painted or screen printed cloth.

Each design that is hand painted is unique and often created over numerous days. Slow production methods allows me to really engage with the creative process while creating textiles for you that are both distinctive and exclusive.

Product after care.

Quilted products can be washed by hand or on a gentle cool [max 30 degree] wash in a machine. Items should be hung flat to dry; ironing can be done on a medium heat and items should not be bleached or dry cleaned.

With this organic wadding and fabric, you can use a tumble dryer to create an antiqued look which has a textured surface. Please note, if putting in a tumble dryer, there will be shrinkage and it is not reversible.

Products made with natural dyes can be washed with the instructions above, care should be taken with them in direct sunlight as they can lose colour more quickly than conventional textile dyes. The benefit of this property is that over dying is a lovely possibility and allows for multiple re-inventions of a product.

Packaging

All products are stored in biodegradable cellophane envelopes to keep the products clean and in their best condition. Samplers are presented on a card ground, all other fabric panels and fat quarters are folded.
