Handmade flowers and 3D botanical studies.
I am fascinated by the minutiae and intricacy of nature and I interprete what I see using silk and millinery materials, vintage and sustainable where possible. I use traditional flower-making tools both Japanese and French combining old ways and my own skills developed over many years of making and striving for perfection.
I mostly make to order, from wedding headdresses to studies of nature displayed under glass. I love commissions and have recently been working with the artist Yinka Shonibare MBE
I am a tutor at West Dean College and I also teach online and small groups in my studio. I love teaching and passing on my skills and bringing awareness of the importance of nature in our lives and in this process I hope to inspire, to look more closely at the wonders of nature.
I sometimes exhibit my work and am currently very busy writing a book on my work process with Crowood Press.
I have a first Class degree in textiles, I then studied millinery at the London College of fashion, I was one half of the successful millinery label Bailey Tomlin that had international recognition for many years selling to many prestigious stores such as Bergdorf Goodman, Harrods, Liberty, Harvey Nichols.
I occasionally make hats to order but my real love is for wild flowers and an obsession for capturing the delicacy and beauty of the nature I see around my home in Sussex.
